Graduate Unemployment falls for second consecutive year 5 December 2005 Architecture, Law and Civil Engineering have the lowest graduate unemployment rates whilst IT sector indicates recovery. Graduate unemployment has dropped by half a per cent to 6.1 per cent, continuing its descent for the second year in succession, according to the latest ‘What Do Graduates Do?’ report, published recently. UCAS financial information 27 October 2005 Financial information about variable fees, bursaries and scholarships and an online budget calculator to help students plan their finances is now available from the new student finance section of the UCAS website www.ucas.com. Through the online Course Search service, applicants can find out exactly what financial support is available for specific courses and institutions. Best University? 27 October 2005 As any careers adviser will tell you, there is no such thing as the ‘best’ university, because what is ‘best’ will vary from one student to another. The right university for you will depend on a number of factors including subject interest, preferred learning style, distance from home, interests and hobbies. Different criteria are important to different people. The internationally well regarded Shanghai Tong University has however, come up with their own ranking list of the top universities across the world. A range of criteria have been taken into account including academic and research performance, plus the number of alumni (exceptionally successful ex students), as well as staff winning Nobel Prizes and Field Medals. The majority of universities in the top 100 in this list are the financially better endowed USA universities and colleges starting with Harvard at number 1 - but Britain can boast 10 universities in the top 100.
